Suicide Squad Cast Reacts To Negative Reviews

Things aren’t looking good for the ‘Suicide Squad’.

It’s no secret that ‘Suicide Squad’ has received a bit of a bashing from the critics… and it sounds as though the upcoming DC superhero movie hasn’t quite hit the mark. It’s a crying shame – especially after it was one of the most anticipated superhero films of the year.

But now, the cast of ‘Suicide Squad’ has hit back.

Appearing at the ‘Suicide Squad’ London premiere, several cast members revealed that they’re not taking too kindly to all those negative reviews…

And according to Cara Delevingne, it’s all down to those pesky critics.

“The critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really horrible,” she told Reuters. “You know, I just don’t think they like superhero movies. It doesn’t really matter what the critics say at the end of the day. It’s the fans that we made this movie for.”

Yup – it’s all for the fans, apparently.

And this seems to be the party line…

“I think people had expectations that may have been different, but I’m excited for the fans to get to vote,” said Will Smith.

“At the end of the day critical acclaim is really nice, but we made it for the fans,” added Margot Robbie. “If the fans like it then we did our job.”

But if you ask me, that just seems like a bit of a cop out.

‘Suicide Squad’ currently holds a 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with most critics pointing out a lack of solid plot as the major negative. Ultimately, it sounds as though ‘Suicide Squad’ has missed a trick or two. But the filmmakers don’t seem too bothered.

After all, they made the film for the fans…

“I made the movie for real people who live in the real world,” added director David Ayer. “I made the movie for people who actually love movies and go and see movies. The movie’s a lot of fun and the fans are really going to enjoy this.”

And when Digital Spy caught up with Jay Hernandez (who plays El Diablo) he didn’t exactly hold back.

“The critics can kiss my ass,” he said.

Charming.

‘Suicide Squad’ stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jay Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach and Viola Davis.

David Ayer directed the film based on a script he also wrote.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
