‘Suits: L.A.’ Lands Pilot Order At NBC
An expansion of the Suits universe is now closer than ever.
NBC has given a pilot order to Suits: L.A. from Aaron Korsh, the creator and writer of the original series, from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. It is now set to begin production in late March in Vancouver. As Deadline revealed exclusively on Thursday, Victoria Mahoney will direct and executive produce the offshoot.

Suits: L.A. would not be a reboot or revival but more like a new chapter in the vein of the CSI and NCIS franchises featuring new characters in a new location.

According to the project’s logline, Suits: L.A. is centered on Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career.
Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both him and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel, leading Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.
Korsh executive produces alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman and Gene Klein, who were EPs with him on the original series.

Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Meghan Markle and Rick Hoffman all starred in Suits during the end of the USA Network’s (part of NBCUniversal) popular Blue Sky era. None of the original actors is set to appear in the pilot, according to the script, though Adams has shown interest in reprising the role of Mike Ross. Should the L.A. offshoot land a series order, maybe there will be more interest from the original cast to pay a visit to the Golden State.

The renewed interest in the franchise stems from Netflix’s streaming of the series in mid-2023. It recently broke records becoming the “most watched streaming original in the U.S.,” beating Apple’s Ted Lasso.
This is the second offshoot stemming from the Suits universe which also includes the Torres-centered spinoff Pearson, which aired on USA in 2019 before it was canceled after one season. Pearson is currently available to stream via Peacock.
