Sunday Brunch's Easter episode had to take an unexpected ad break today (April 21) as a power cut interrupted the show during an early cooking segment.

With all the guest introductions and pleasantries out of the way, hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy moved over to the kitchen to cook a dish with Ghosts stars Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe – only for the lights to then cut out, leaving the studio in darkness.

Despite Tim initially trying to play it off as something spooky they'd arranged in honour of the guests' new BBC series, the show ultimately had to go to an early break as they worked to get the electricity back on.

And of course viewers spent the entire ad break sharing their excitement over the whole thing, while also wondering if they'd be able to get the power back in time.

"Just needed plugging in, that was all it was," Tim joked when the show returned after the break.

"We're back! Did you miss us? The electric's are back, we're here with Charlotte and Kiell... shall we cook something?"

And in a final nod to their show Ghosts, Kiell joked that they could force a power cut on any show they're booked on, just in case in anyone was interested.

It's the latest in a long line of mishaps for the series, as last month the programme cut off unexpectedly for some viewers, while Fleabag star Sian Clifford dropped the F-bomb in an episode earlier in March too.

Sunday Brunch airs on Sundays from 9.30am on Channel 4.
