The Masked Singer spoilers follow.

Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer may have revealed his appearance on this year’s The Masked Singer.

The presenter and chef was speaking with Julia Sawalha on yesterday’s Sunday Brunch (January 21) when he seemed to have made a slip up (via Metro).

Sawalha, who starred in Absolutely Fabulous, had recently been unmasked as Bubble Tea on The Masked Singer in front of her on-screen mother Jennifer Saunders. She admitted on the breakfast show that she didn’t know what bubble tea actually was when she took on the role.

But Simon’s interjection caused attentive viewers to question his own involvement in the show.

"I always assumed that you picked your own costumes. Because I know when I was asked..." he began, sparking suspicion.

"Because I know with me as Dippy… ooh!" Simon continued, before putting his hand over his mouth in shock.

Sawalha gasped as she realised what had happened, but co-host Tim Lovejoy seemed not to have noticed.

"I nearly gave it away then," Simon said in a muffled voice to Tim, implying he had revealed his identity as fan favourite Dippy Egg.

The pair then swiftly moved the conversation on but not before viewers pieced together the clues.

There have already been rumours that Simon could be Dippy Egg, with hints linking to cooking. Other guesses have included Gregg Wallace, Matt Lucas, chef Jimmy Doherty and BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker, who all also have links to food.

Was Simon teasing viewers or did he genuinely make a big slip-up on live TV?

Meanwhile, Sawalha explained that she decided to do the show as it would "really take me out of my comfort zone."

She explained: "I like to do jobs that actually I’m really terrified of because then they’re a big challenge. This lived up to that!"

"The panel’s guesses were just so hilarious," she added. "I couldn’t believe they thought I was Hannah Waddingham."

The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer air on ITV1 and ITVX.
