A determined father has been hailed as a "super dad" after scrambling the wrong way up a water slide to rescue his stranded daughter. Andrew Jackson, 39, and partner Emma Reece, 42, treated daughter Sienna to a day at a theme park for her sixth birthday last June.

The excited family travelled from their home in Rainhill, Merseyside, to Gulliver's World in Warrington ready for a fun-filled day celebrating Sienna.

But the day out took a dramatic turn after the birthday girl decided to go on the Togo Tower, a water slide where people come speeding down in large blue dinghies.

Sienna's rubber carriage got stuck on the big blue slide and, despite her best efforts, it wouldn't budge. Seeing his daughter bursting into tears, Andrew leapt into action, Liverpool ECHO reports.

Emma said: "I could see Sienna had started to cry and getting panicked. Andrew said 'I'm going to have to walk up there and get her".

Determined dad Andrew then uses his best Spiderman skills to clamber up the slide, holding firm on the sides as he hauls himself up, despite the vertical challenge.

In footage of the incident, Emma can be heard laughing, while onlookers can be heard willing the dad on - and cheering when he finally reaches stricken Sienna.

Andrew pulled the dinghy forward slightly, so that it sat over the edge of the next dip in the slide. After a bit of bumping, he was able to loosen it from the slide's surprisingly firm grip.

The dad had to use his feet to finally get the boat moving, but soon he and his daughter came shooting down the slide within the dinghy.

Their appearance at the bottom was met with celebrations from Emma and other enraptured witnesses. The mum said: "There was cheering from the top and bottom".

After sharing the footage online, Emma was stunned to see it go viral, racking up millions of views in just a few days. The clip was also shared on news stations around the globe, including CNN and Fox News in the States.

Sienna, now seven, said at the time she was "happy" when her dad managed to rescue her and agreed that he was "super dad".
