Supporters of Australia's 'Vote Yes' Campaign March in New York City

Hundreds of supporters of Australia’s ‘Vote Yes’ Campaign marched in New York City, New York, on Saturday, September 16.

Footage posted by akihsirp showed Australian expats and supporters holding placards supporting the ‘Yes’ campaign as they walked cross the Brooklyn Bridge.

In capital cities across Australia, tens of thousands of people marched in support, local media reported.

The referendum will ask voters whether they want to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by enshrining an Indigenous consultative body in the constitution.

The proposed Voice would be able to advise the parliament and federal government on matters which affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
