The Bear is back for its third season, and it's not just the intensity of the show that has viewers hooked.

The award-winning Hulu and Disney+ series, which first grabbed subscribers' attention in June 2022, is also known for its unexpected guest stars.

Who are the guest stars in The Bear season 3?

Josh Hartnett

In season three, Josh Hartnett of Black Mirror, Oppenheimer and Operation Fortune fame appears in episodes two and four.

He plays Waldo, the love interest of Tiffany Jerimovich (Gillian Jacobs), the ex-wife of Richie Jermovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

John Cena

Wrestler and actor John Cena, who recently made a cameo in the iconic Barbie movie and is set to star in the action-comedy Jackpot!

Starring in episodes one and 10., he plays Sammy, a friend of the Berzattos who helps out at The Bear restaurant, but not without some confrontation.

Thomas Keller

Chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller makes an appearance in episode 10 as himself, teaching Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) how to cook in his first week at culinary school.

Olivia Colman

Broadchurch and The Favourite star Olivia Colman returns as chef Terry in episode four, having first appeared in the seventh episode of season two.

Some of Olivia Colman's other noteworthy projects have included The Crown, The Lost Daughter, Wicked Little Letters and Fleabag.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Freaky Friday and Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Donna Berzatto, the mother to characters Carmy and Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto (portrayed by Abby Elliot). Donna features in the eighth episode, coming to assist her daughter who is going into labour.

Sarah Ramos

The fifth episode stars The Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty actress Sarah Ramos. She returns as Jessica, first introduced in season one, working alongside Richie in the third run.

Brian Koppelman

In an interesting turn, writer Brian Koppelman depicts the character of a friend to Uncle Jimmy, named Nicholas "Computer" Marshall. Whilst he may not be widely known as an actor, Koppelman is recognised for his work off-camera, having written Ocean's Thirteen and currently serves as the creator and showrunner of Showtime's Billions.

Will Poulter

Will Poulter, renowned for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, We're The Millers and The Maze Runner, portrays Luca, Carmy's friend from culinary school.

He returned for the tenth episode of third season after appearing in several episodes in the previous season.

Robert Townsend

Finally, Robert Townsend, whose credits include blockbuster films such as The Five Heartbeats, Hollywood Shuffle and Of Boys And Men, stages a comeback as Sydney's father (Sydney portrayed by Ayo Edebiri) in episodes one and ten.

He was previously introduced in the second season and viewers can now see the transforming dynamics of the father-daughter duo.

John Mulaney

Comedian and actor John Mulaney is set to reprise his role as Steven, the boyfriend of Michelle (portrayed by Sarah Paulson) in episodes one and six, despite the fact that American Horror Story icon Paulson only features in flashback scenes.

Mulaney is renowned for his stand-up comedy and his voice work on the adult animated series Big Mouth.

Jon Bernthal

Jon Bernthal, famed for his role in The Punisher, returns to the screen as Carmy and Sugar's brother Michael "Mikey" Berzatto, whose tragic suicide occurs before the events of The Bear unfold.

Gillian Jacobs

Season three sees the return of Gillian Jacobs as Richie's former spouse Tiffany Jerimovich, appearing in episodes one and 10.

Jacobs has gained widespread recognition for her roles in hit series such as Community, Love, and the film Life Of The Party.

David Zayas

David Zayas, perhaps most celebrated for his portrayal of Angel Batista in Showtime's Dexter, joins the cast of The Bear as Tina's (played by Colon-Zayas) husband, with the pair also being spouses off-screen.

Oliver Platt

Oliver Platt makes a comeback as Uncle Jimmy in The Bear, having been introduced in the first season. Platt's illustrious career includes memorable performances in movies like 2012, Love And Other Drugs, and Beethoven.

Molly Gordon

Actress Molly Gordon returns to charm audiences as Claire, Carmy's love interest from season two.

Gordon's acting portfolio includes roles in films such as Good Boys, Booksmart, Theatre Camp, and Shiva Baby.
