Aldi has revealed a comprehensive list of potential locations for its new stores in the near future - with one in Surrey. The well-liked budget supermarket chain, which has been significantly expanding over recent years, is continuing its growth with plans for more openings.

Last month, Aldi made a nationwide appeal for public suggestions to identify areas most in need of an Aldi store. After receiving thousands of responses, the retailer has now refined its list of preferred locations.

Key areas identified for potential new stores include London, Surrey, Hampshire, Manchester, and Liverpool. However, it's crucial to note that this list represents a "wish list" and does not guarantee that stores will open in these locations. One is proposed in Redhill as well as in Surbiton and Aldershot.

If you have a suitable site in mind for a new Aldi, you can contact the company at realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk. Aldi is looking for sites that can accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with about 100 parking spaces, ideally located near main roads with good visibility and access.

Additionally, the supermarket is searching for smaller sites within the M25 to develop its Aldi Local format stores, which require around 5,000 sq ft. Currently, Aldi operates over 1,020 stores across the UK and aims to increase this number to 1,500.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: "We want to make high quality food accessible to all, but we can't do that while there are still some towns and areas that either don't have an Aldi or have capacity for additional stores."

"We recognise there is huge demand in certain regions for more stores, which is why we decided to get the public's input on our latest list of priority locations. They have helped us identify where demand is greatest and we will continue to work to bring Aldi to as many people as possible."
