From Digital Spy

Friday night's episode of Survival of the Fittest saw the Girls forced to pick someone to leave the Lodge, and they opted to kick out Ryan Cleary.

But while we're still scratching our heads over why and how and what's even going on in this show, Survival of the Fittest is already announcing its latest replacement contestant – because when one contestant is booted off the new ITV2 reality show, another takes their place.

So, with Ryan out of the running, someone new has to enter the competition and the lucky guy this time is 28-year-old Joel Bennett.

Mancunian Joel will be heading into The Lodge in tonight's show and join the Boys team as they continue to try and prove that men are stronger than women... while the Girls team are simultaneously fighting to prove the opposite.

"We should win because we are doing it for man's honour," Joel said. "It goes back to the Alpha male thing – we are the leader, the strong ones and we need to do it for the men."

Joel also describes himself as " a cheeky chappy" and "always fun to be around", and says the appeal of Survival of the Fittest to him is the "unknown".

"It's a brand new show which I'm very excited about," he added. "I'm excited for all the challenges, I'm excited to meet people, I'm excited for the sun. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and it's going to be amazing."

But because this is also somehow a dating show, and despite wanting to win the show for the Boys, Joel's open to romance in The Lodge too.

"I'm going into The Lodge with a very open mind," he said. "I'm happy to see what happens with anybody. I'd like to get to know all the girls, see if anything develops and if it does, I'll roll with it."

Survival of the Fittest continues tonight (February 18) at 10pm on ITV2.
