Susan Sarandon has accused Piers Morgan of ‘milking’ the whole ‘tacky cleavage’ bust up for his own personal gain.

Speaking on Late Night over in the US, the actress questioned the amount of time and effort the former newspaper editor dedicated to talking about her body.

“Does he have a job? A real job? Why does he have so much time? He is doing something again today – he can’t stop.”

She added: “I think his mother nursed him. I hate to say he’s milking the situation.”

Pun very much intended.

Last week, Susan’s son, film director Jack Robbins also jumped to his mother’s defence, branding Piers an ‘ageist and a sexist’ for his comments.

“It’s ageist and sexist to attack her. She’s a beautiful woman.

“If Piers Morgan wants to make fun of my mother and focus his energy on that, then power to him. Aren’t there a million other things he could be preoccupied with than my mum’s breasts?”

Presenting the In Memorium segment at the SAG Awards last month, Susan opted to show her underwear as outerwear in a cleavage-flashing black bra peeping out of a white blazer – a choice that Piers deemed ‘inappropriate’.

“Very tacky Ms Sarandon,” he originally tweeted.

However, after finding himself at the receiving end of a barrage of comments in defence of the 69-year-old’s look the former BGT judge logged back on to add:

“Would Susan Sarandon wear this to a funeral? No. It was thus horribly inappropriate for an In Memoriam tribute.”

Susan herself then waded into the debate poking fun at his comments with a very special dedication of her own.

“Today’s #TBT is dedicated to @piersmorgan,’ she fired back with this vintage snap taken from the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show:

To which Piers returned the favour, sending over a snap of himself wearing very little indeed from a former campaign he did for Burger King.

The onslaught of comments in defense of Susan then prompted the former newspaper editor to comment that he was “under cleavage attack”.

"Seems to be some massive misunderstanding that I am anti-cleavage. I’m only anti-cleavage during In Memoriam tributes to dead people,” he continued.

“Just for the record, @SusanSarandon, I think your cleavage is magnificent. I’d just keep it hidden for ‘In Memoriam’ tributes. Love Piers x.”
