Suspect tasered after police officers threatened with blade

A suspect was tasered by police after officers were allegedly threatened with a blade.

Andrew Anders, 36, has been charged with a number of offences following an incident at an address in Eversley, Widnes at 8.32pm on Tuesday, April 16. Police officers attended the address following reports of an assault, but while attempting to make an arrest they were threatened with weapons.

The suspect was taken into custody following a brief struggle that saw him tasered. He was taken to hospital to be checked over. He was subsequently charged with battery, attempted section 18 assault, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and three counts of threatening with a bladed article in a private place.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said Anders was remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court today, Friday, April 19.
