Sweet Little Brother Drives 17 Hours to Surprise Sister at Graduation

A sweet little brother drove 17 hours from Florida to Indiana to surprise his big sister at her nurse pinning ceremony in Hammond, Indiana, on May 2.

Kylei Gray, who is featured in the video, told Storyful her brother goes to college in Florida.

“This was finals week for him and we already knew he wasn’t going to be able to make it,” she said. “Last minute, his finals got rescheduled and when he finished his test on Wednesday he packed up his dorm room, headed home, and surprised me.”

Gray said the video was recorded at her nurse pinning which, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), is a ceremony that occurs at the end of a student’s nursing program, and signifies the official initiation into the profession.

During the ceremony, students are officially “pinned” by a faculty member who places a ribbon or pin on their lapel. The AACN notes that, in most instances, this ceremony is separate from the school gradation ceremony. Credit: Kylei Gray via Storyful
