Swimming golds for Sascha Kindred and Ellie Simmonds in Rio

It's been another gold rush at the Aquatics Stadium for Paralympics GB on the fifth night of the competition.

Sascha Kindred won his seventh gold medal and set a new world record in the men's 200m SM6 individual medley - a fitting end to what is believed to be his final race in the pool.

It didn't all go swimmingly for the 38-year-old though, as he had to appeal to be reinstated after he was disqualified during the heats for a "technical infringement".

Over in the corresponding women's race, Ellie Simmonds followed suit by smashing the world record and securing her fifth Paralympic gold.

The 21-year-old was in fine form, and had already set a Paralympic record in qualifying as she geared up to defend her London 2012 title.

Kindred and Simmonds' success was speedily followed by a third gold in the swimming from Susie Rodgers in the 50m S7 butterfly.

It is Rodgers' first-ever Paralympic gold medal, and she won in style by setting a new European record of 35.07 seconds.

Other golds earlier in the day came courtesy of Aled Davies in the F42 shot put and Will Bayley in the class seven table tennis - taking the team's medal count in Rio to 28 golds, 16 silvers and 19 bronzes.

In the archery, John Stubbs and Jodie Grinham won silver in the mixed team compound open.

Jonathan Broom-Edwards was also jumping for joy after he secured a silver medal in the T44 high jump.
