Syfy's The Expanse is saved with a 4th season at Amazon

The Great TV Axing of 2018 was incredibly painful for a lot of fans, as networks cancelled fan favourite shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Exorcist and Lucifer.

But thanks to the efforts of said fans (and hungry content providers wanting a hit/to look good), some of the sting has been taken out.

First, NBC saved Brooklyn Nine-Nine almost immediately and now Amazon have closed their deal to keep The Expanse alive just a few weeks on from Syfy cancelling the show after three seasons.

Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos (said to personally be a huge fan of the show) was doing a Q&A at National Space Society conference, where he was filmed making a very pleasing announcement by cast member Cas Anvar.

"I was talking to the cast half an hour ago, before the break for dinner started," Bezos said.

"I was telling them that we are working hard at Amazon to save The Expanse but it wasn't a done deal yet.

"During dinner, ten minutes ago, I just got word that The Expanse is saved. The show is extraordinary and these guys are unbelievably talented."

Cue much rejoicing from the crowd.

The Twitter account for the show's writers said: "It has been one surreal day to say the least! Thank you so much to all the amazing fans who worked so hard & put in so much time & passion to fight for this family.

"Our family. The Expanse family. Thank you! Here we go! Together!"
