Tamworth council election results in full as Labour win control
Labour swept aside the Conservatives to take control of Tamworth Borough Council in the 2024 local elections. Before Thursday's vote (May 2) the council was under no overall control.
But with ten seats up for grabs Labour won nine of them with the Conservatives taking just one. It means Labour now hold 18 seats taking overall control. The Conservatives have been left with eight seats. There are four Independent councillors.
They won seats in Amington Ward, Belgrave, Bolehall, Castle, Glascote, Mercian, Spital, Stonydelph and Wilnecote. The Conservatives held just one seat in Trinity Ward.

The win mirrors the picture elsewhere in Staffordshire where Labour also gained control at Cannock Chase District Council. Though in the West Midlands results were more mixed with the Tories retaining control of both Solihull and Walsall Councils.
The parliamentary seat was won by Labour following the resignation of former Conservative MP Christopher Pincher. That election saw a 23 point swing to Labour.
