Tamzin Outhwaite has opened up on the "traumatic" experience of rescuing three children from drowning.

It was reported earlier this week that the former EastEnders actor had come to the aid of a trio at a birthday party in an outdoor pool.

A source told The Sun that Outhwaite, 50, had been a "hero" by "leaping into the water without hesitation.

She's now confirmed the reports by tweeting her thanks towards those who had messaged her in the wake of the news.

Writing on Twitter, she said: "Thank you for the many messages I received regarding recent stories in publications about me saving 3 children from drowning.

"They were all from the same family, who could not swim & i did not know them.

"It was traumatic for all but i am just relieved that they are all ok."

The original report claimed there were doctors in attendance at the party who checked the children over and gave them the all-clear after the ordeal.

Outhwaite is mother to daughters Marnie, eight, and Florence, 13, who she shares with ex husband Tom Ellis.

The pair parted ways in 2014 with their divorce granted on grounds of adultery. Ellis remarried to Meaghan Oppenheimer in June 2019.

Outhwaite has since found love with Tom Child, who is 20 years her junior. She's previously said their relationship was "meant to be a fling" but it developed into something more.
