Tamzin Outhwaite has robustly defended herself against rumours suggesting she's facing financial difficulties after being spotted selling items at a car boot sale.

The 53 year old former EastEnders star was seen over the weekend at a car boot sale in Chigwell, Essex, where she was selling various items including t-shirts and posters. The sight of the actress at the event led to some bystanders speculating about her financial state, noting she had an array of "weird-looking things" for sale.

However, Tamzin took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to vehemently deny these claims. She explained to her 270,800 followers: "Our yearly car boot sale is a family tradition. Last Sunday 6 adults and 6 kids met up in our cars and took up almost a whole row. We had the best time. Teaching our kids who range from 15 down to 4 that selling your unwanted toys and clothes is a great way... save money. We had the best time and we are already planning another. I am currently filming for BBC so I haven't fallen on hard times, so to shame someone for teaching kids to be resourceful is pretty low. And I would never sell posters of me.."

She further shared how the day turned out to be profitable for her family: "My kids made quite a bit of cash as did my brothers and cousin, and with my takings I got us a curry that night. If anyone knows of a great car boot sale we can do next please holla! ! ! " Following her post, many of her online followers commended her, with one commenting: "Brilliant good for you. A great lesson... And 4 seems a great family too."

"Good for you Tamzin. We love a good car boot," one fan commented, while another added: "You don't need to explain to anyone should have turned up in your Mel Owen clothes and shouted out buy off a soap legend it be gone in minutes as you are a soap legend beautiful.", reports the Mirror.

Another supporter remarked: "Surely in this day of recycle rather than just buy new this is a great thing to do. We have done it - keep sell or throw and I gave my kids the money that we made towards a new purchase they wanted. Kids grow up - toys change to devices - just well done you! ".

A source previously told The Sun: "It was funny because she was selling weird-looking things including posters of herself," one buyer said after the weekend sale. She had quite a few of them.

They showed her dressed as Superwoman or something similar. She had a load of T-shirts but people just weren't interested - she had a big old industrial light and lots of blazers, too."
