Taste of defeat? Donald Trump forces Chris Christie to eat meatloaf
Defeat tastes of meatloaf for Chris Christie.
There was a time when the New Jersey Governor was the flavour of the month for Donald Trump after Mr Christie pulled out of the White House race and endorsed his Republican rival.
It almost earned him a place in the inner circle. Instead, Mr Christie was stripped of his job running the transition and he was passed over for an administration post.
Mr Trump, meanwhile, is savouring life as president and, keen to keep Mr Christie in his camp, invited him to lunch at the White House earlier this week to discuss efforts to battle opioid addiction.
‘This is what it’s like to be with Trump,’’ Mr Christie said. ‘‘He says, ‘There’s the menu, you guys order whatever you want.’ And then he says, ‘Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf.’’’
Mr Trump said ‘‘I’m telling you, the meatloaf is fabulous,’’ according to Christie. Whether he wanted it or not seemed irrelevant.

But it wasn't all bad for the Republican governor. “The meatloaf was good,” he said.
Perhaps Mr Christie had read Mr Trump's 2004 book "How to Get Rich", in which the businessman described his management style.
"I rely on a few key people to keep me informed. They know I trust them, and they do their best to keep that trust intact."
Mr Christie's meatloaf story provided fodder for social media.
Let's just all hope Chris Christie's being forced to have the "meatloaf" isn't a euphemism.

Sorry but no one has ever had to make Chris Christie eat meatloaf.

It is not the first time Mr Christie has faced ridicule for his friendship with Mr Trump.
He was also mocked for his facial expressions during the campaign when he stood beside Mr Trump after giving him his backing.
