Taxi for Todd Cantwell as Rangers diehard takes his medicine from 3 angles on spicy Hotline

It's General Election day and while there's no politics in the Hotline, there's plenty of the bickering we've seen at debating panels in the buildup to polling.

The news is that Todd Cantwell could be off to Saudi Arabia to reunite with James Bisgrove at Al-Qadsiah. And Neil Renton, Leith, was first to take the floor as he said: "If I was Rangers I’d drive Todd Cantwell to Saudi Arabia for any proposed move. He brings nothing to the team other than a nice hairdo. He seems to want to be more of a hit on social media than at Ibrox."

The bold Chris Lowe has been taking it tight for his claims in a recent Hotline and it was no different today. Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "I hope Chris Lowe isn’t in charge of any finances at his work. Of the Celtic players he lists, four of those made the club approximately £35M profit and the rest are still at the club. We may well be gullible but we’re definitely not blinkered!"

Michael Edmonds, Northampton, said: "The fantasist Chris Lowe mentioned eight Celtic players that he says he put a valuation on. Nonsense, the fact is he called Virgil van Dijk a £10m myth and that Morelos with his feast of European goals (how many against Celtic?) would go for millions more than French Eddy, another load of cobblers conveniently forgotten. He says 'the O’Riley calculator,' well he should use it to add up all the medals won by those eight Bhoys against his team’s whole squad."

And James Brown, Glasgow, said: "So the so-called expert Chris Lowe is on here gushing about Ianis Hagi at the Euros. I wouldn't give you two bob for him and he was part of the Romanian Team that got hammered 3-0 by a very average Dutch team."

So who else could we turn to next? The opposition speaks as Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "With news that Cyriel Dessers is wanted by clubs in Europe, I’m interested in what the Kerrydale accountants value a striker at who scored 22 goals last season across five different competitions including the Champions League and Europa League with no penalties in his tally. Remember Edouard was worth £40 million for hitting 19 and eight of them penalties over the same platform and O’Riley allegedly £20 million for 18 with three penalties. I think if a Celtic striker had Dessers stats his value would be colossal."

One caller has given Celtic captain Callum McGregor a bit of stick recently. But Robert Frew, Glasgow, said: "In reply to Gary Stevenson’s criticism of Calum McGregor: cut the guy some slack, it’s hard work lifting trophies and doing laps of honour at the end of a long season."

Along similar lines, Robert McEwan, Mt. Vernon, said: "Guy on the Hotline giving it to Cal Mac is funny, but if Rangers go to Hampden, their fans can go up the the podium where you collect trophies, and see the part where Cal Mac has worn it out."

And who could forget the Rangers stadium shambles that's dominating the headlines? Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: "Rangers supporters shouting they are going to win the treble in league season 2024/25, do they not have to finish renovating their stadium first, then second build a team capable of beating Celtic never mind the other ten. And if they don't get the stadium finished they could be facing heavy sanctions like Dundee."

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: "It’s silly season again with all the regular Rangers fans gloating about what they’re going to do and how bad Celtic players are or no signings! Celtic will sign players of quality not players no one has never heard of. We will be playing our home games in our own ground and all the players who you say are overrated are the same players who walked the league last season against your so-called superstars! Even if Celtic never signed a player we would still beat your team of serial losers."
