Taylor to make Lima debut at Outskirts
May 14—LIMA — Andi Jo Taylor is making her solo Lima debut this weekend.
But the rising artist, who calls herself Ohio's Princess of Country, does not plan to slow down after a show at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Outskirts Brew Co. and Dive.
"I am stoked," she said. "I am super excited and it's going to be a blast."
Taylor performs with a live band, but her show at Outskirts will be what she calls a trial run in Lima.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting some new friendly faces," she said. "I want to make some new connections with people and make some new fans."
If there are country fans in attendance, they will surely not be disappointed.
"With a name like Andi Jo Taylor, you have to know that I am all about country music," Taylor said. "I remember feeling more connected with country when I started writing because it's everything that my family and I are about. We love and take of our people and we love our country and always put God first."
Taylor has been writing music since she was 11, and her parents informed her style.
"It just so happened that all the songs I was writing were country songs," she said. "But my parents played all types of music around me. My dad played old-school rap and '90s country and my mom played a lot of pop music."
All of that work and inspiration seems to have paid off with a busy schedule that even has Taylor performing Friday night and serving as a correspondent for the Menace to Sports podcast.
"I am traveling quite a bit this summer," Taylor said. "I just got back from Indiana late last night and now I'm just spending the day getting back in the grind, but I have a crazy summer coming up. After I debut here in Lima, I will be at Country Concert in Fort Laramie and the Country Legends Festival in West Liberty."
Before that, Taylor is focused on making sure Saturday's show at Outskirts makes some memories.
"I hope the audience has a memorable, great time," she said. "For a performer, every show is different and every venue is different. But the one thing that remains the same for me is making sure people leave with great memories and a positive experience."
There is no admission charge to the show, which will take place in the outdoor beer garden at Outskirts at 2412 Cable Court in Lima.
