The dad of a teenager who was jailed for the murder of a gangland rival has posted of his pride for his son underneath a picture of him in prison.

Taylor Meanley, 17, was sentenced to life in prison for the killing of gang rival Lewis Williams, 20, in a drive-by shooting in January.

While he was on remand in prison, Meanley, from Mexboriough, South Yorkshire, posted a photo of himself on Facebook with the caption: "Just a little prison photo of me."

One of the comments posted underneath the photo was from Meanley's father Mike Meanley, who wrote: "That’s my boy and I am so proud of you stay strong f*** them all."

Meanley armed himself with a slam gun on 11 January as tensions between his group and members of the Pitsmoor Shotta Boys came to a head.

The 17-year-old was a front seat passenger in a Jaguar when he fired a shotgun cartridge at Lewis Williams.

Members of the public tried to save Lewis' life and performed CPR but he was pronounced dead at 5pm.

Meanley was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years for the murder.

He was also sentenced to 13 years for the firearms offence – a sentence which will run concurrently to the sentence for murder.

Judge Jeremy Richardson, the Recorder of Sheffield, told Meanley: “You led an aimless life with little hope for the future except indulging in crime.

“Had an adult done as you did, the starting point would have been 30 years.

“You had this gun for some time, you knew what you were doing. I regard you as a very dangerous individual.”
