Taylor Swift fans have turned Sherlock Holmes after being thrown into a frenzy over the meaning of her new song, Gorgeous.

Fans have been attempting to decipher the lyrics, which refer to a person being “so gorgeous it actually hurts,” with many convinced that it’s about British actor Joe Alwyn.

Swift, 27, is said to have struck up a relationship with the 26-year-old after she and Tom Hiddleston ended their whirlwind romance last year.

The US pop superstar appears to tease Alwyn’s identity throughout the single, referencing someone with “ocean blue eyes” and revealing that she “made fun” of his accent.

She sings: “You should take it as a compliment/ That I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk.

“Ocean blue eyes looking in mine/ I feel like I might sink and drown and die.”

She explains that their “magnetic field” was a “little too strong” and that on first meeting him she had a boyfriend – who fans have taken to be Hiddleston.

One fan tweeted: “Guys this song is about ‘her perfect angel boyfriend of over a year Joe’ and if anyone says otherwise we were told to ‘get them’.”

Another posted: “I’m literally screaming @taylor meeting joe when she met calvin, dumping calcium to date tom, only to dump tom when she met joe again.”
