Teacher Faces Sack For Punishing Pupils By Making Them Kneel And Resting Feet On Their Backs

A Chinese school teacher is under investigation for punishing children by forcing them to kneel while he puts his feet on their shoulders.

Xie Lei, 40, stunned pupils at Nanguang Middle School, Quanzhou, when he grabbed two boys who had been joking in class and dragged them into a corridor.

Classmates said the teacher screamed and shouted at the pair before demanding they get on their knees.

Fellow pupil Lee Kang, 14, said: 'We had been having a maths class and the boys had been laughing at something.

'We heard him shouting and screaming and when we went to see was happening he was demanding they get on their knees.

'He then put his legs on top of them and began sending text messages from his phone.'

Photos of the bizarre scene were soon uploaded to WeChat, the Chinese version of Twitter, where they quickly went viral sparking outrage from viewers.

One, Shen Hu, posted: 'This is outrageous. He is using them as Ottoman furniture.'

Another, Lei Tseng, wrote: 'What sort of teacher is that? He should be fired.'

While Wei Tao said: 'This is so humiliating for the boys and the teacher is completely out of order.'

A spokesman for the school said: 'We are aware of the photos and have spoken to the teacher concerned.

'He says that the students were misbehaving and that he wanted to punish them.

'He has been suspended and we are looking into the matter.

'He is normally a good teacher with a good track record so we don’t know what made him do this.

'But we do not tolerate such practices at this school.'
