Sam Richardson experienced a relatable pet owner moment directly after winning an Emmy.

While speaking with Laverne Cox on E!'s pre-show red carpet ahead of the Emmy Awards 2023, Richardson — who won outstanding guest actor in a comedy series at the 75th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Jan. 6 for his Ted Lasso performance — revealed that his cat vomited in his shoes shortly after the ceremony.

"Honestly, it felt so phenomenal. I really didn’t think it was gonna happen so I already told myself, 'Don't worry about it,' " Richardson, 40, said of his win. "And in the middle of 'don’t worry about it' they said my name and I was like 'This is the only thing I care about thank you very much.' "

"And I run up on stage and then give my speech," he continued. "Nothing has ever felt like that before in my life. I’m truly amazed."

During Richardson's acceptance speech, the actor also stated he was excited to spend some quality time with his cat, Conan O'Meowan, and "go for a swim."
