A teenager has been arrested after a fire was started at a war memorial.

The wreaths were laid on the Cross of Sacrifice at the Hardwick Road cemetery in King's Lynn to pay respects to those who fought in the Second World War.

They were later found burnt, with ash scattered across the memorial and damage to the structure itself.

The vandalism was believed to have taken place between June 5 and June 8 as the country marked 80 years since the D-Day landings.

Officers arrested a teenager on suspicion of criminal damage and he was questioned before being released on bail until July 17.

A second teenager who attended King's Lynn Police Station on a "voluntary basis" has been referred to the youth offending team.
