A 14-year-old horse rider expertly fought her corner after an enraged driving instructor attempted to give her a lesson on road safety.

Megan Lockett and friend Callum Mullock, 12, were berated by instructor Craig Allred for riding their horses on the road in Leigh, Greater Manchester.

Footage captured by Callum shows Mr Allred shouting: ‘What gives you the right to let your horse s*** on the road?’

After the initial rant, he then orders the youngsters to take their horses into countryside or nearby fields – but they’re only too willing to fight their corner.

‘They’re all farmers’ fields, you can’t go in them’, Megan defiantly replies.

‘They’re [the horses] allowed to go on the road. You can Google it if you want. Ring the police they’ll tell you the same thing.’

Mr Allred then proceeds to accuse the children of animal cruelty by riding the horses on the road – and tells them to stay away from his car.

He has since been fired from the AA Driving School after the clip emerged.

Slamming his behaviour, Callum’s auntie Tracie Cumberbatch said: ‘I have owned horses for 30 years and I have never seen behaviour like that. I know that some people don’t respect horses.

‘There’s no chemicals in horse muck and no law in the land that says you have to pick it up. What was this guy’s problem?’

A spokesperson for the AA said: ‘We apologise for any upset, particularly to the two children, who dealt with the incident in a mature and commendable manner.

‘The roads are there to be shared safely by all and we teach pupils how they should interact with horses as well as other road users. Of course we expect our instructors to follow that advice.’
