A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a robbery and sexual assault took place within 15 minutes in a Bolton park.

At 6am this morning in Queens Park a man in his 50s ran away from a boy who demanded money and the man's car keys.

The victim contacted police.

Around 15 minutes later, a woman was sexually assaulted in the same park, being dragged in the process.

A friend she was out running with was assaulted as she tried to intervene.

Another woman was approached on Westgate, but spooked the boy who then ran away.

Police officers quickly arrived stepping up patrols and arrested the suspect on suspicion of robbery and sexual assault on Ducie Avenue.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

Detective inspector Carla Deighton from GMP’s Neighbourhood Crime Team said: "This morning’s series of events I’m sure will be concerning to hear about, and we are now supporting the victims who are understandably shaken.

"I hope our quick response shows how seriously we take incidents of robbery and sexual assault."

She urged witnesses or those with doorbell or dashcam footage to call 101 quoting log 528 of June 21.

The investigation is still ongoing.
