Teenager dies after two-vehicle crash near North Rauceby which saw police plane called

A teenager has died following a two-vehicle crash on a major Lincolnshire road. Police were called to the incident involving a grey Audi and a black Ford Fiesta on the A17 Newark Road near North Rauceby at 9.41pm on Thursday, June 20.

The three occupants in the Audi sustained minimal injuries. The four occupants in the Ford were taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where the 17-year-old driver died.

The road was closed overnight and a police plane was seen circling the area on Thursday night. A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "We have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and are now appealing for help from the public.

"If you were in the area shortly before or after the collision, please get in touch. If you have dash cam footage or any information, no matter how small, it could prove crucial."

A spokesperson for the National Police Air Service said: "At 10.24pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, a police aeroplane was airborne on directed patrols when it was deployed to the Sleaford area to support Lincolnshire Police in a search for people following a road incident. Total flying time on the task was 35 minutes."
