Teenager stabbed on bus full of people in Barkingside as police launch manhunt for attacker

A mna has been stabbed on board a bus full of people on the Essex border as police have launched a manhunt for the attacker. The incident took place in Redbridge, Barkingside just after 8.30pm on Monday (June 24).

Detectives investigating a stabbing aboard a bus in Redbridge are appealing for witnesses and anyone with footage or information to come forward. At around 8.35pm, a 19-year-old man was attacked aboard a Route 169 bus at High Road, Barkingside. The injured man was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where his condition is stable.

A road closure was implemented to allow emergency services to access the scene. This has since been lifted. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects. There have been no arrests.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Potter of the Met’s Roads and Transport Command said: “This was a violent attack on a busy London bus and I am sure that there are witnesses to the incident who have not yet come forward.

"I urge those people to get in touch without delay. Alongside our partners, we are working hard to reduce violent crime and to educate young people about the serious consequences attached to knife crime.

“Some may mistakenly believe that they will be respected if they carry a knife, but the reality is that in any conflict, the presence of a knife will up the ante and place everyone, including the knife carrier, in danger.”
