Three teenage boys have been arrested after a five-year-old girl was left unconscious following an alleged hit-and-run incident. The young girl was found on a grass verge, covered in bruises and with a dislocated finger, after being dragged 20 metres by masked riders who fled the scene.

The girl's mother, who rushed to her aid, said her daughter has struggled to walk since the collision at Central Forest Park in Stoke-on-Trent. Staffordshire Police have confirmed the arrests and praised the local community for their support.

The ongoing investigation has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of failing to stop after a collision. A further 17-year-old boy, also from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft.

The three suspects have been interrogated and released under investigation while the police continue their enquiries. The local community and the young girl's school have shown overwhelming support by showering her with gifts, as she recuperates from her traumatic experience, reports Stoke on Trent Live.

A spokesperson for the force issued this statement: "Officers were called to Central Forest Park in Hanley at 7.15pm on June 2 following reports of a collision involving a young girl and an off-road motorbike. The rider of the bike rode off after it happened. Thankfully, the girl was not seriously injured."

"Since then, we've been speaking to people who were in the area at the time to track down those involved. We've also been working closely with members of the local community and the girl's school to support her and her family during the investigation. Thanks to the generosity of local people, we helped to gift the young girl toys, books and activities."
