FOLLOWING its winter break, the Gallery on the Green in Settle has now re-opened, with an exhibition of exquisite embroidery by Dales textile artist Kerry Pilkington.

The gallery, which is now in its 15th year, is housed in a former BT telephone box and is said to be 'probably the world’s smallest art gallery'.

Going under the name 'The Embroiderer', Kerry Pilkington makes framed embroidered pictures which are handmade and displayed in her studio in Austwick. Inspired by being outdoors in nature, her aim is to capture the beauty of the wildlife in the Dales, such as the curlew, hare and lapwing.

Kerry completed a BA (Hons) in embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated in 1996. Since then, she has been self-employed. It was lockdown in March 2020 that gave her time to focus on producing a collection of her own designs. The works in this exhibition are sample pieces featuring the delicate embroidery which is her trademark.

The exhibition runs until June 21. More of her work at: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheEmbroidereruk
