Despite a few brief moments of mid-May warmth on the Fylde Coast, summer in Blackpool is yet to really get underway.

Thankfully, the temperature this weekend can safely be described as pleasant, hovering around 16 and 17 degrees, with downpours holding off until Tuesday, according to the Met Office. But businesses and visitors will be hoping there will be no repeat of 2023, when weeks of heavy rain threatened to dampen the holiday spirits across the seaside resort.

One spot which has little to worry about in terms of guaranteed sunshine is Sunny Beach, which is flooded with fun-seeking Brits every year. So many, the Bulgarian hotspot has been dubbed 'Blackpool abroad'.

Sat on the Black Sea, the cheap destination has pints priced at 80p and hotels can even be booked for as little as £9. Topping party destinations such as Magaluf, Benidorm and Amsterdam, Sunny Beach in Bulgaria has taken the top spot for the best and inarguably, cheapest place to go on a holiday celebration.

100,000 Brits head to Sunny Beach every year, largely due to its affordability and also it's weather. This coming week, temperatures will reach as high as 33C on Thursday, making it a top destination for those looking for sun, sea, sand and alcohol.

It will also feature on E4's Emergency On Sunny Beach, showing the behaviour of Brits abroad, reports Daily Star. Lads on holiday on the Black Sea coast will be shown stripping completely naked and passing out during drinking games.

One tourist, 21-year-old Mason, from Essex, heads on a bar crawl and licks alcohol off a Bulgarian woman’s breasts. In the documentary series, he said: "I’m 21, a young buck, I’ve got a lot of goals. I’m going to make Sunny Beach my oyster.

"I want to shag a MILF and shag a load of foreign birds because I love foreign birds." However, 40 extra policemen will be seen around the Sunny Beach areas in the summer, as well as 130 lifeguards, to ensure holidaymakers are safe.

Local police woman Desislava Goranova said: "At night the central part of the resort goes through a change, the clubs open, it’s full of people with loose morals, a lot of drugs and booze.

"In my view the usual British tourist looks like this — fair skin, a bit chubby and wearing as little clothing as possible, always very loud and covered in tattoos. Compared to other nationalities the British tourists are always very loud and jolly."
