Several police officers have been injured by a chemical substance while carrying out a drugs raid in north London.

Met Police officers arrived at an industrial estate in High Barnet just before 2pm on Wednesday to execute a drugs warrant.

The force confirmed that 10 officers came into contact with a "corrosive substance" during the raid in Dale Close.

Injured officers were taken to hospital for treatment but are all said to be in a non-life-threatening condition.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We await an assessment of the extent of these injuries. However, none are believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

"We are working to inform their families."

A number of people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences in connection with the incident.

They have also been taken to hospital having suffered injuries related to the substance.

Officers remain at the scene and enquiries continue.

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
