Tenet star John David Washington has landed a new movie role.

He is set to star alongside Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie and Batman actor Christian Bale in a new film by David O Russell, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Oscar nominee Russell will be directing from his own script, and it'll be the first time he will be at the helm of a movie since 2015's Joy – but storyline details are being kept well under wraps, so no spoilers here.

Filming was meant to start earlier this year, but production restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic meant a delay, and things are now scheduled to kick off after Christmas.

The Tenet star recently admitted he still doesn't quite understand the plot of the movie, even after filming it.

"I mean, literally on the first read, I thought I understood it, strangely," he told GQ Hype.

"In my delirium, I thought I totally had, and I realised as the day went on, 'Ah, I don't have it at all'.

"But to answer your question directly, I'm still kind of grasping it..."

Elsewhere, Washington put us all to shame when he used his lockdown time to film an actual movie with Spider-Man star Zendaya, while the rest of us binged on Netflix and biscuits.

The film, titled Malcolm & Marie, was picked up by Netflix last month. It was shot over two weeks with no more than 12 people on set at once, with strict social distancing in place.
