Tesla in 'Self-Drive' Mode Slams Into Parked Police Cruiser

A Tesla owner admitted to police that he had engaged his vehicle’s “self-drive” mode when it crashed into a parked police cruiser early on Thursday, June 13.

Footage released by Fullerton Police Department show the crash shortly after midnight near the intersection of West Orangethorpe Avenue and Courtney Avenue.

The officer was managing traffic at the intersection following a deadly crash when a blue Tesla suddenly crashed into his parked car, police said.

Bodycam shows that several red flares were placed on the ground and that the police cruiser had its emergency lights on.
