Tess Daly has been flooded with messages as she declared that she and Vernon Kay had gone 'back to the 80s' - and looked fabulous while doing so. The presenter took to social media to share a snap of herself and her husband as they seemingly enjoyed some time partying together over the weekend.

In the photo, Stockport-born Tess could be seen beaming for the camera as she sported a metallic dress boasting a square neckline and puffed sleeves while sporting her trademark blonde locks in a side plait. Vernon, who hails from Bolton, then stood alongside his wife, donning a zipped-up sports jacket and matching bucket hat.

Captioning the post, Strictly Come Dancing star Tess told her 867,000 followers: "Back to the 80’s for a friends birthday celebration this weekend." She then laughed as she added: "Retiring the side braid and bucket hat now @vernonkay."

The judges' desks will once again be filled by Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel-Horwood and Anton Du Beke and the dancers they will be casting an eye over have also been revealed - but there celebrity partners are still under wraps for now.

The professional dancers who will be returning to Strictly 2024 alongside are Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Karen Hauer, Amy Dowden, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.

Notably, Giovanni Pernice was not among the names confirmed. He has been a part of the dancing show since 2015 when he reached the grand final with Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote. Later, in 2021, he lifted the Strictly glitterball trophy alongside EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis, who was the first deaf contestant to win.

The 33-year-old was last paired with Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington, who withdrew from the competition in 2023 citing “personal reasons” but Giovanni has since been subject to a number of allegations regarding his conduct in the training room.

Giovanni previously rejected allegations of “abusive or threatening behaviour” and said he looks “forward to clearing my name”. A legal firm acting on behalf of the complainants said the broadcaster is “evidence gathering”, but the BBC has not confirmed any probe has begun.

Sarah James, executive producer, said: "This year Strictly marks two decades of entertaining the nation and we will be back with a bang in September as we celebrate in style with our incredible team both on and off screen."
