Texas: Driver Shot Dead After Mowing Down Boys

A suspected drink-driver has been shot dead after ramming a truck and killing two young brothers in Texas.

Witnesses have described hearing two gunshots around the time of last Friday's crash that killed 12-year-old David Barajas and 11-year-old Caleb Barajas.

Police found the car driver, Jose Banda, with severe head wounds. He died later.

The brothers had been helping their father - also called David Barajas - to push the family's truck, which had run out of fuel on a rural road in the Houston area.

The Brazoria County sheriff’s office said investigators did not have "formal suspects" in the case. No murder weapon has been recovered.

Detectives have not even said if the driver was shot before or after the collision.

Some reports have suggested a third car sped past the scene moments before.

Police have yet to interview the boy's father, who was injured in the crash, and their mother, Cindy Barajas, who was inside the broken-down vehicle.

Both have complained to KHOU 11 News that they are being harassed by people on Facebook.

They said someone online has even threatened a drive-by shooting at their home in Brazoria County, while others have accused Mrs Barajas of shooting the driver.
