Fresh strikes are to be held by London Underground workers in early August in disputes over pay.

Maintenance workers based at the Ruislip depot will stage two 12-hour walkouts over the weekend of August 3 and 4.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union announced on Friday that its members would strike because "there has been no serious move by London Underground to resolve these disputes".

General secretary Mick Cash said: "Despite previous industrial action there has been no serious move by London Underground to resolve these disputes, which is why we have been left with no choice but to press on with a campaign of strike action in the pursuit of justice for our members."

The Ruislip depot is situated between the stations of Ruislip Gardens and West Ruislip, both of which lie on the Central line.

Earlier this month a planned strike by drivers on the Piccadilly line was called off at the last minute after talks between Transport for London and the RMT union.

The union had previously announced that drivers would be walking out over working conditions and staffing after balloting its members last month.

A statement released by the union said members "will be striking over a series of attacks on working conditions and staffing levels that have turned the line into a pressure cooker".
