A newlywed couple were on the receiving end of the ultimate festive prank when they returned home from their honeymoon to discover their entire home had been GIFT-WRAPPED in Christmas paper.

Faye Gilbert, 28, and new hubby Karl Gilbert, 27, were stunned as they found their walls, furniture and electrical appliances covered in festive wrap.

The genius prank was devised by Faye’s sisters Sam Slade, 28, and Clare Caseley, 31, who used 20 rolls of paper along with friend Kim Thornell, 35.

They were inspired to wreak festive mayhem after Karl posted a video on Facebook that showed another couple who had returned from honeymoon to find their home trashed.

Faye arrived home to see a massive festive bow on her front door, and thought her family had kindly put up her festive decorations.

‘The door was wrapped up in a big bow so I expected to walk in with my tree up or something, but the whole house was wrapped’, she said.

‘I loved it, it was really funny.

‘Because it was December when we returned from the honeymoon, my lovely sisters decided they’d wrap my house up.

‘We normally have a bit of a laugh – but not to that extreme.

‘All of our family are big Christmas fans.’

She added: ‘Karl wasn’t so happy as we’d been on a night flight and he’d driven back from Gatwick so he was very tired, but then he had a sleep and thought it was funny.’

The couple, from Yate, Bristol, discovered the prank last Friday after returning from an idyllic two-week honeymoon in Mexico.

Unsurprisingly, the ambitious prank took a entire weekend and two weekday evening to complete, as they covered everything from pictures on the wall to entire kitchen units.

But while it only took 20 minutes to unwrap the presents, Faye is now plotting her revenge.

‘My twin sister is getting married in April, so we are already thinking of ideas for her.’

She better watch out!
