The Apprentice 2016: One candidate QUITS before task in shock announcement

Pop your kettle on early because you’re not going to want to miss a single second of The Apprentice tonight, as the BBC show is thrown into turmoil when one candidate QUITS the process before the task has even begun.

During the opening of the show, Lord Alan Sugar summons the two teams to Draper’s Hall where they learn that for their next task they will have to introduce new project lines to London’s world-famous department store Liberty’s.

However, in an Apprentice first, one budding entrepreneur walks out of the process before even stepping foot in the store, announcing that they’ve decided to quit just after the project manager has been chosen.

“You guys, I just have to say something. I’m going to leave the process,” they reportedly explain to their shocked teammates. “I’m really sorry, I’m just not enjoying it.”

Some of the candidate’s fellow teammates take it as a stunt, as another determined applicant responds with slightly less sympathy, reportedly saying: “We’re just starting a task, it’s not exactly the ideal moment.”

But the candidate’s decision is final, as they later explain: “I have found the process overwhelming and stressful and really intense. I just want to go home.“

Following their departure, the remaining candidates are forced to regroup before continuing on with the task, and after two days of selling, it’s back to the boardroom for the all-important results.

On hearing the news, Lord Sugar reportedly blasts: “If you can’t hack it, get out,” before adding: “The good news is I’ve saved myself a cab fare.”

Oh Alan, you are such an optimist.

The Apprentice continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
