Here’s some bad news if you like revealing your private parts down under - mooning has been banned in Australia.

The practice of flashing your bum has been made officially illegal in the state of Victoria.

Mooning was previously punishable under other laws but now has its own specific legislation.

If found guilty of mooning, offenders could face up to two months in jail for a first offence.

Repeat buttocks-bearers could spend six months in prison.

Streaking has also been banned in the new sexual offence legislation, which covers more than 50 crimes.

The Summary Offences Act says that “behaviour that is indecent offensive or insulting” and involves a person exposing their bottom or genitals “to any extent” is banned.

It cites “mooning or streaking” as an example.

Singing obscene songs has also been outlawed, as well as behaving in a “riotous, indecent, offensive or insulting manner”.
