The Chase: Fans go into meltdown after Friends cast ‘reunite’ on quiz show

This is the Friends ‘reunion’ we never expected to happen.

Viewers were left in hysterics after a team of four quizzers, who appeared on The Chase earlier this week, featured on the panel with some very familiar names.

The participating contestants sent Twitter into an absolute meltdown as eagle-eyed spectators noticed they possessed the same names as four of the main characters from the TV sitcom Friends.

Ironically, they were called Rachael, Ross, Phoebe and Joe (Joe is basically Joey, right?). And fans were quick to point out the hilarious coincidence on social media:

With others taking the opportunity to share their Friends-related jokes on the matter:

While some people were convinced that April Fool’s had arrived early this year:

The ITV show even dropped in a Friends related question as part of the final chase, making viewers question whether the show’s producers had contrived the whole scenario for our viewing pleasure.

One amused fan wrote: “LOL there was a question about Friends in the Final Chase on an episode with contestants Joe, Ross, Phoebe and Rachel? #The Chase #Hmmm.”

Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan spotted the similarity too, pointing it out to host Bradley Walsh as she asked Joe: “You supposed to be Chandler or something?”

After doing a double take, Bradley (rather unconvincingly) replied: “Oh I see… I didn’t realise that.”

The pair then embraced the quiz show’s apparent unplanned theme and adopted their own Friends alter egos, as Jenny volunteered: “I’ll be Marcel the Monkey,” and Bradley declared: “I’ll be Gunther.”

Sadly, the team didn’t fare too well against their Chaser – ultimately being wiped out and sent home empty-handed, so isn’t that just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic?

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
