The Masked Dancer 2022 runner-up: Onomatopoeia unmasked as Hollywood star

The Masked Dancer's Onomatopoeia has been unmasked as Hollywood actor Adam Garcia.

The 49-year-old Australian performer is known for roles in Coyote Ugly, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Nativity 3: Dude Where's My Donkey?

Garcia was runner-up in the final after losing the dance-off to Scissors, and the judges all guessed his identity.

Judge Davina McCall told him: "Up untl the tap [dancing] I had no idea."

He admitted: "The tap tends to give it away, but I couldn't not."

But Garcia conceded that despite being a professional dancer, the mask made things trickier.

He said: "I think the dancing is more difficult simply because of the moving in spectacular costumes that do add weight and bulk to normal choreography."

Peter Crouch was confused about the football clues that Onomatopoeia had given.

Garcia said: "When I moved to London I moved to North London and I'm an Arsenal season ticket holder."

The Broadway and West End performer - who has starred in the musical of Saturday Night Fever - said the show had enabled him to try a lot of dances he had never done before.

He said: "I never got to do things like street, and then I got to do an Argentine Tango and it's really hard but it was amazing to learn that."

Actor Garcia added: "I always step away from dancing and something brings me back. I just love dancing and it makes me happy. It brings me joy."

The actor was a guest star in Doctor Who in 2005 alongside David Tennant and all his Time Lord clues in the semi-final had many viewers convinced he was the Scottish actor.

The final saw guest judges The Vicar of Dibley star Dawn French and comedian John Bishop join Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse and Peter Crouch standing in for Jonathan Ross.

Pearly King was unmasked as Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli and the winner was Glee star Heather Morris, who turned out to be the celebrity dancing as Scissors.

So far the show has unmasked Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh, Bake Off's Liam Charles, TV presenter Steph McGovern, Strictly champion Stacey Dooley, former England goalkeeper David Seaman and his wife Frankie Poultney, The Choir's Gareth Malone, Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page and Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe.
