The Masked Singer has returned to ITV for a fifth series
The Masked Singer has returned to ITV for a fifth series with 12 new characters revealing clues to their identity. Joel Dommett made a comeback as host of the celebrity singing contest, with panel Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan back to guess who they think is behind the mask.
The first episode of the new series of The Masked Singer aired on Saturday, 30th December at 7pm. Among the guises taken on by this year's mystery singers will be Chicken Caesar, Bubble Tea, Eiffel Tower and Air Fryer. And the characters have already revealed the first clues to their identity.

Who has been unmasked on The Masked Singer?
Week 8: Eiffel Tower | Tiffany Darwish
Description: They’re made of steely stuff.
First clue: “I’m a huge fan of the show, it was a blast.”
The American singer-songwriter behind of 1987’s cover of I Think We’re Alone Now, Tiffany Darwish, was inside Eiffel Tower.
Week 7: Air Fryer | Keala Settle
Description: Here for a frying visit.
First clue: “Being on The Masked Singer is petrifying and freeing all at the same time.”
Episode seven revealed that star of the stage and screen, Keala Settle, was the celebrity hiding inside Air Fryer.
Week 6: Maypole | Melody Thornton
Description: Here to lead us on a merry dance.
First clue: “Keeping it secret actually hasn’t been that hard for me. I’ve decided to just hide in plain sight!”
American singer and Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton was the celebrity providing the voice of Maypole, as we all learned in episode six.
Week 6: Dippy Egg | Nicky Campbell
Description: Guaranteed to give a cracking performance.
First clue: “This is a once in a lifetime experience.”
Scottish broadcaster and journalist Nicky Campbell was hiding inside Dippy Egg but all was revealed in episode five.
Week 5: Owl | Lorraine Kelly
Description: They’re a real hoot.
First clue: “I just want to have fun!”
Owl was unmasked in episode five, with long-running TV host Lorraine Kelly hiding inside the suit.
Week 4: Bubble Tea | Julia Sawalha
Description: They’re everyone’s cup of tea.
First clue: “My favourite thing about becoming Bubble Tea is just being able to be really playful.”
Episode four revealed the true identity of Bubble Tea and it turns out it was Julia Sawalha, an actor best known for playing Saffy on Absolutely Fabulous.
Week 3: Rat | Shirley Ballas
Description: Get ready to scream and jump on a chair.
First clue: “The nerves I had for the Masked Singer are the worst nerves I’ve had in my entire life.”
Rat was unmasked in episode 3 and revealed to be Shirley Ballas, a professional dancer and judge on Strictly Come Dancing.
Week 2: Chicken Caesar | Alexander Armstrong
Description: Ready to take it to the maximus.
First clue: “I'm Chicken Caesar! It's great to be here."
Chicken Caesar was unmasked as Alexander Armstrong, the host of Pointless and comedian known for his double act with Ben Miller named Armstrong and Miller.
Week 1: Weather | Dionne Warwick
Description: Ready to storm the stage.
First clue: “You know the weather is very unpredictable.”
Weather was unmasked in the first episode as Dionne Warwick, the legendary singer of Walk On By and I Say a Little Prayer.

Description: Hoping they can sink their teeth into their performance.
First clue: “Everything about this show is completely surreal."
Cricket
Description: Ready to bowl you over.
First clue: “I like the fun content of The Masked Singer, I could be creative!”
Bigfoot
Description: Things are about to get hairy.
First clue: "Bigfoot just wants to have a good time and for the audience to have a good time!"
