The new iPhone emoji are here and there’s finally a shrug and a facepalm
Apple has just rolled out a new version of its iPhone software to developers, and it comes with a host of new and updated emoji.
They’re not available to everyone yet - but we’ve caught a glimpse of all the emoji we’re about to get next time we update our phones.
Some new additions include some much longed-for icons, like the emojification of the popular ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (above) and, at long last, a fingers-crossed emoji:
There’s also a face palm, in case you want to party like it’s 2011.
Elsewhere you’ll find a bunch of new professions to illustrate your chat - including artist, firefighter, judge, astronaut and, er, Bowie. Lady emoji also have as much right to these emoji professions as male emoji.
A number of other emoji have also been redesigned. The world is still reeling from the loss of the gun (it’s now a water pistol) and now Apple has seen fit to destroy the peach emoji.
Before the redesign, the peach could double as a sensitive part of your anatomy, but literally none of these foods look like a bum now. Not one of them.
Some delicious new additions to note above, though, are the avocado, the croissant and the bacon.
Most of the remaining emoji have been given a new, more realistic sheen - the camels are more camel-y, the dragons more dragon-y and the fire emoji: well, that’s a lot more fire.
