As with other reality dating shows, The Ultimatum relies on an extreme concept and plenty of TV meddling in fraught relationships.

The big difference here is that the contestants taking part are already real-life couples, who have applied to the show because one of them is keen to get married asap and the other party isn't quite so sure they want to commit.

The six couples will all meet and spend a week living together, getting to know each other - before choosing a new partner from one of the other couples to spend the remainder of the eight-week experiment with.

It'll give them a glimpse into a possible different future - will commitments be made, will those keen on marriage still want a wedding, and will some of the new couples even decide that life looks better together with a new partner?

The series is hosted by Love Is Blind presenters, married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey.
