Thieves Rip Cash Machine Out of Bank Using Forklift

English police are on the hunt for at least three male suspects who used a stolen telehandler forklift to rip a cash machine from the front of a bank in Sawbridgeworth, about 30 miles north of London, on Tuesday, April 23.

Video captured by Steven Newman from a neighboring window shows a hooded suspect repeatedly ramming the building with the telescoping forklift to extract the ATM, before lifting it onto an awaiting pickup truck, which was also stolen, according to local media. Other balaclava-clad figures can be seen guiding the extraction as a security alarm blares.

Hertfordshire Police said the incident took place at the Nationwide Building Society bank on Knight Street shortly before 5:30 am; they are appealing to the public for information and footage.

“We’re working with our colleagues at Sawbridgeworth Town Council to review any CCTV opportunities," inspector Mark Collins said in the police statement. Credit: Steven Newman via Storyful
