The Frasier and Cheers star was talking to hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary about upcoming projects on Friday’s instalment of the ITV show, when Hammond suddenly broke in.
“Unfortunately, we have got a little bit of an issue,” she said.
“We’re going to have to throw to break very quickly. We’ll see you very soon.”
“OK,” the actor replied, sitting back and looking around the studio.
However, the show didn’t cut to an ad break after all and the cameras showed the actor and presenters just sat there silently.
“Oh!” O’Leary suddenly exclaimed.
“Sorry we had a little issue in our ears there Kelsey, but now we’ve been told that we’re back,” he explained.
“We haven’t thrown to break at all!”
Grammer saw the funny side and the three shared a laugh.
But viewers were puzzled by the whole thing and many wanted more details.
“What just happened?!?" one posted on Twitter. "Break, then no break?”
“Strange…. Why would they be told in their ear to ‘go to a break’ then say it’s an error,” wondered someone else.
“This interview is very, very strange.....what was that ad break thing all about,” tweeted another baffled fan.
“Yeah, that was really weird - they don't cut to an advert break with the speed like there's been a bomb alert if they're just having a minor technical issue,” claimed somebody else.
One joked: “Oh I was getting excited then when they said there’s a little issue.”
