A huge crowd filled Addis Ababa’s Meskel Square on November 7 for a pro-government rally amid an advance towards the city by forces with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed tweeted: “When we stand together, we can overcome anything. We stand on the shoulders of our ancestors that paid great sacrifices for us and today we stand committed to laying a solid foundation for generations to come.”
The rally came after the UN Security Council called for a ceasefire in the conflict between state forces and Tigray rebels.
