Yahoo News Three North Yorkshire seaside businesses apply for alcohol licences
Three businesses in Scarborough and Whitby have applied to the council for alcohol licences.
The Green Dragon Ale House in Whitby and Seven Coffee Shop and Eatery and The Distillers Lounge in Scarborough, are seeking premises licences to serve alcohol. Located at 4-5 Grape Lane near Whitby Bridge, the Green Dragon Ale House is seeking to vary its licence in order to implement several changes.
If approved, the new licence would permit the consumption of alcohol on both sides of the property and would allow access via the doorway at 5 Grape Lane. The pub would also have permission for external advertising of alcohol while a current condition restricting the "on-sale of alcohol to be ancillary to off-sales" would be removed.
The deadline for public representations regarding this application is Thursday, July 4. In Scarborough, The Distillers Lounge on 19 Aberdeen Walk, has applied for a premises licence to serve alcohol from 10am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and until 10pm on Sundays.
The applicant, the J&S Pub Company Ltd, currently also runs the J&S Sports Bar and McGinty's. The property is the former site of the Scarborough News offices.
The deadline for public representations regarding this application is Monday, July 8. The Seven Coffee Shop and Eatery at 7 Yorks Place in Scarborough could also get a premises licence.
Deborah Day's application proposes that the sale of alcohol would be permitted from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 3pm. The opening hours would be between 9am and 3pm from Monday to Saturday.
The deadline for public representations regarding this application is Monday, July 1. All comments and representations should be sent to licensing.sca@northyorks.gov.uk.
